Severe Service Definition for Gasoline Engines using AMSOIL Synthetic Lubricants.
The following are examples of vehicle usage or equipment type that will require following AMSOIL’s severe service engine oil drain intervals.
- Vehicles primarily used for short trips of less than ten miles.
- Vehicles with turbocharged and supercharged engines
- Commercial and fleet vehicles
- Vehicles subjected to excessive idling
- First-time use of AMSOIL motor oil in a vehicle with more than 100,000 miles
- Frequent towing, plowing, hauling or operating in dusty conditions.
The normal drain interval for our Signature Series motor oils is the first occurrence of 25,000 miles, 700 hours of operation or one year of time. Severe service, defined above, shortens the mileage interval to 15,000 miles.
Our XL lubricants are formulated for 10,000 miles or 6 months of use for both normal and severe service.The OE product line uses the manufacturer’s longest drain recommendation for both normal and severe service.
